Abstract The paper deals with optimization of the reaction
parameters, graft copolymerization, characterizatio
n
and evaluation of the transformations in Roselle
stem fiber on graft copolymerization with vinyl mon
omer, using ceric
ammonium nitrate nitric acid initiator system.
Different reaction parameters such as temperature,
time, initiator
concentration, monomer concentration and pH were op
timized to get the maximum graft yield. The graft c
opolymer thus
formed were characterized by advanced techniques. The physico-chemico-thermal resistance, moisture a
bsorbance,
swelling behavior of graft copolymers and the dye u
ptake behavior were studied and found to have impro
ved.
Conclusion:
Hence, this first report of novel graft copolymer
s is to help towards various applications.
